Be sure to read the SUBMISSION GUIDELINES and PRICING below before contacting me. Thank you!

-- Online Journal/Blog: $25.00 a month for me to proofread every new entry no matter what the word count is, OR $3.00 for each entry below 1,000 words; entries greater than 1,000 words is $5.00.
(WHEN TO HIRE A PROOFREADER FOR WEBSITES AND BLOGS: You should have a proofreader if your blog or website is used for any kind of professional service, especially if you are using it to sell anything. Having a well-maintained blog/website will boost sales and people will take you more seriously. If you're just keeping your friends and family updated on your life or if you write just for fun, you probably don't need a proofreader for your blog or website.)
PLEASE NOTE: If you have short stories on your website, they may be priced the same as the individual rates above if they are greater than 3,000 words.
--------------------
-- WHAT I WILL DO:
My main goals will be to check for misspellings, extra or missing words, punctuation and diction errors, and incorrect page numbers in the table of contents. As I am reading and checking for the aforementioned, if I catch consistency errors, past/present/future tense fluctuations, or other, large, in-depth mistakes, I may also suggest changes, but do not guarantee this as a part of my service (again, have your work copyedited first).
--------------------
YOU MAY BE THINKING: "I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC SPELL CHECKER, WHY DO I NEED YOU?"
-- Many times a word may be spelled correctly, but misused, so your automatic spell checker won't pick up on it. For example, if you type, "She wanted a sandwich, to," your spellchecker would not catch that "to" is used wrong because it's a valid spelling.
-- Oftentimes a person's mind thinks faster than his fingers can type and he will leave a word out of a sentence. Spell checkers may skip over that missing word.
--------------------
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
First, please make sure you understand the difference between copyediting and proofreading. Be sure your work has been copyedited before sending it to me. I will not accept work that demands attention out of my services. Your work MUST be properly formatted with indented paragraphs, 12 point Times New Roman, Calibri, or Garamond font, and 1.5 or double line spacing. I don't care if you want to add fancy fonts or formatting to your final project, but when I'm reading it, I want it to be easy on the eyes.
-- I will ONLY accept an emailed document attachment of your work that is in RICH TEXT FORMAT (.rtf)--all others will be rejected. Use the "save as" option when saving your work and select ".rtf"
-- I also accept printed documents, but they MUST be double-spaced and you must include extra shipping money (price depends on page count) for me to mail your work back to you. Email me (shogan523@yahoo.com) for an address to send to and for more information.
--------------------
GENRES:
I will proofread stories in the following genres:
-- Horror
-- Fantasy
-- Mystery/Thriller
-- Romance
-- All others: Ask me
I do NOT do poetry, text books, or nonfiction. I prefer not to read Westerns, but I WILL consider them.
--------------------
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HIRE ME:
Did you read all of the submission guidelines? If so, send an email to shogan523@yahoo.com with the subject titled: PROOFREADING SUBMISSION. <-- THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. If your email does not have this subject title, I may overlook it and it could be deleted.
-- In the body of the email, let me know how many words your document has, along with a sample of your work in the form of an .rtf document attachment (usually a five-page sample if possible). I will then respond and give you an estimate of how long I think it will take for me to proofread your work and we will go from there.
-- I will send YOUR sample back to you with an example of what I'll do for it. In other words, YOU send ME a sample, and then I will send YOU a sample right back ;-)
-- If I do not respond to your email within a week, check the guidelines again and make sure you followed them. I will usually respond within 48 hours.
--------------------
PAYMENT METHODS ACCEPTED:
-- Pay pal (I do NOT charge fees to use Pay Pal; all fees are covered by me)
-- Money order
PLEASE NOTE: I will not begin proofreading until payment is received. Sorry for any inconvenience, but you just can't be too careful in this world these days.
